Radish are tough little plants - you can sow them any time from April to August. Grow beds are the best option if you want a good sized crop. Fill one with multipurpose compost and make a groove adjacent to one of the sides where you're going to sow your radish seeds. It needs to be about 1cm deep. Then take a pinch of seed and sprinkle the seed into the groove, about one every cm or so and cover with a thin layer of compost and water well.

Radish also grow well in wide pots or windowboxes if you haven't got space in your grow beds.

Grow

Thin to about 5cm between plants, to give them enough space to develop.

Harvest

Your radishes should be ready 4-6 weeks from sowing. Keep an eye on them because they can get big quick.

Work your way along the row, pulling the larger ones and firming back the soil. That way the smaller ones have extra space and will grow on.
