Swede Helenor

£1.95 Average 300 seeds

I've grown a lot of swede in the past couple of years, largely because it's great pureed up for our babies. But to be honest, there's little to justify growing your own unless you're a particularly devoted fan. It takes up quite a lot of room for a long time, tastes very similar to shop bought swede, and falls prey to some particularly troublesome garden pests - flea beetles and cabbage white butterflies.

If you're looking for similar alternatives, milan purple top turnips, tender and true parsnips, or chantenay red cored carrots are all excellent choices.
