Lovage

£1.95

Lovage was hugely popular with the Romans, who first brought it to Britain. It's not so popular nowadays, but well worth considering if you've got a large plot. It's grown for it's leaves which have a distinctive celery flavour, with a hint of lemon. Use it in any dish as a substitute for celery or parsley, but use sparingly as the flavour is quite strong.

It's easy to grow and has beautiful architectural foliage, but it does require space. The plants grow to a whopping 6ft tall, and will come back year after year.
