Bespoke Plot Design Service

Our plot design tool has proved hugely popular with people who have small to medium sized plots. But if you've got a large or unusual plot you will inevitably need a more tailored solution. To help, we've recently launched our Bespoke Veg Plot Design Service.

Input

The process is very simple. In the first instance we'll email you a questionnaire, requesting key information about your plot like the following:

  • Location; orientation towards the sun
  • Dimensions or sketch of proposed veg growing area, ideally with photographs
  • Soil sample for testing; history of the site
  • Number of people maintaining the plot, level of gardening experience
  • Water availability
  • Initial ideas for veg types/general preferences
  • Budget available
Output

Following a brief conversation over the phone we'll respond with a design for your veg plot along with comprehensive support materials to help your bring it to life. Specifically you'll receive:

  • Printed A3 full colour plan of the veg plot; written rationale behind the plot design
  • List of specific vegetable varieties we recommend, and an explanation of why we recommend them
  • Instructions on how to grow each variety; key equipment required and where to get it
  • Sowing calendar showing when each vegetable is to be sown and when each will be ready to harvest
  • Recommendations on soil preparation in readiness for growing
  • Worksheets relating to any specific projects eg. building raised beds suitable for people in wheelchairs; constructing a low cost cloche to ensure continuous production of salad leaves through the winter
  • Guidance on rainwater harvesting (solution will be in most cases integral to the plot design)
  • Composting solution; recycling food waste (also integrated into the plot design)

We'll also talk you through our recommendations over the phone to fully explain our thinking and ensure it fits your requirements.

Cost

The full service costs £150 plus VAT.
