About Us

Seed to Plate was set up because there seemed to be lots of people out there who want to grow their own food, but didn't have the time to pore over books and decipher complicated growing instructions.

I wanted to create a website that gave people relevant, clear and timely advice that helped them transform an unpromising patch of weeds or patio into burgeoning veg beds brimming with fresh home grown produce.

Specific tools have been built into the site to give personalised plot designs, tailored to the individual's lifestyle and eating habits, along with key information about sowing and growing, again, tailored to the individual.

The site isn't about growing giant veg to win village fetes. All the seeds we sell are chosen first and foremost for their flavour. Our other key priority is ease. Every seed we sell is easily growable by novice gardeners, provided they follow our instructions detailed in the personalised Grow Guides.

About Us

We know people don't have stacks of time to devote to their veg plot, so we've made every effort to ensure growing is as low maintenance as possible. We recommend a select number of key pieces of quality equipment that will dramatically improve ease of growing and the output of your plot.

Some seed companies exaggerate the growing season of plants presumably to boost sales. Growing plants out of season means you have to put in an inordinate amount of effort and/or invest in complicated paraphernalia to 'beat nature'. We tend to go with the flow, so don't be surprised if our sowing recommendations conflict with other companies' (but trust us!).

The experiences our customers have with growing our seeds is very important to us. We've spent years testing veg varieties and trialing different growing methods, but we are a new company and we'd love to hear about your growing experiences and if there's anything we should do to improve what we do.

In the meantime, enjoy growing your vegetables!
